But this isn’t your typical bike ride—you’ll need to dodge obstacles and outsmart unexpected hazards. Will you conquer the treacherous track and emerge as the cycling superstar, or end up tangled in a mess of spokes and regrets?

Speedcicleta is directly inspired by a computer game from the late 1980s called 1000 Miles. This game was based on the card game Mille Bornes, so Speedcicleta thus bears some similarity to it, however there is much that is different. Gone is the tracking or management of points, replaced with tiles and bicycle figures to represent each player. Additionally, there are new Obstacles in the forms of Animals, Automobiles, and Pedestrians.

Depicted below in simplified format is a 2 x 3 foot game table, showing an ongoing game between 4 players. Click on the headings to see more details about each component.

1 — TRACK TILES

There are a total of 30 track tiles, fourteen of which are laid out in any given game.

2 — CARD DECK

The Card Deck and Discard pile contain all cards not currently in player tableaus.

3 — MEEPCYCLES

Speedcicleta comes with 6 bicycle-shaped meeples, in a variety of different colors, to support gameplay for up to 6 players.

4 — MEEPLES

While racing, you will likely have to contend with pedestrians, which take the forms of a pedestrian meeple.

5 — ANIMEEPLES

You will also likely encounter animals along your way. Included in Speedcicleta are a squirrel, fox, deer, and moose.

6 — AUTOMEEPLES

Some drivers don't necessarily understand that there's a race going on and insist on passing through unhindered.

7 — START & END TILES

Every race has a beginning and end, and so too do the races in Speedcicleta.

8 — TABLEAUS

Players will need to manage cards currently in play throughout the game. Those with ongoing effects are placed directly in front of the player in what's called a tableau. Ongoing effects can include Hazards, Obstacles, and Safeties.
